Rione Monti is the first district of ancient Rome with testimonies
of Roman, Medieval, Renassaince and Baroque periods. In the olden
time this zone included the following hills: Esquilino, Viminale,
a part of Quirinale and Celio. There are little streets between high
buildings with craftsman's laboratories, night clubs and galleries:
Rione Monti was the ancient roman Svbvra (today called Suburra). Suburra
means "lived district under the city". The Svbvra was the
most popular and genuine district of the city with its human and social
contradictions, very crowded, dirty, loud and dangerous. Giulio Cesare
was borned in the Svbvra and Nerone visited it in disguise to comprehend
the population moods. Messalina went there to looking for transgression.
